About KENNY EICHER

I’m an artist and illustrator, living in New York’s Hudson Valley. Holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute, I have built a successful career as an illustrator and graphic designer, currently serving as the Creative Director for a global corporation. My wife is a Librarian, and a constant source of inspiration, as are my three creative and smart kids. My favorite days are days I get to wander around a museum, a new city or simply sit outside and observe nature.

Most of my recent art can be found on my Instagram account: @Sketchy_McGee

I am a member of the Orange County Arts Council.
I am a member of the Southern Vermont Arts Center.

All prints and originals are hand-signed at the time of purchase.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My work tends to embrace the “sketch” - the not-so-perfect and refined/polished side of art. I have a deep appreciation for the sketch phase, as it shows an artist’s thinking. Finding lines, as they’re called, show how the artist’s brain is comprehending the size, shape, volume, perspective and angle of the subject. These lines are the backbone to all great 2D work and are what excite me.

My work is intentionally on the sketchy side. My cross-hatching is both messy and highly precise at the same time. Each line landing where I intend it to land. I tend to work in black and white, but when I do explore color, my palettes tend to be limited to two or three colors only, as I’m rarely interested in capturing a realistic representation of the subject. Rather, I prefer to evoke an emotion with my color choices - or lackthereof.
